ABOUT LÅNGHOLMEN SWIMRUN 2018 JUNE 16

In Långholmen SwimRun you compete in teams of two people in the classes; Men, Women and Mixed. Participants alternate between running and swimming with minimal stops associated with getting in and out of the water. The shoes usually is kept on during the swim sections and wetsuit stays on at the running parts. The contest is open to everyone regardless of whether they make their first SwimRun contest or if they belong to the world's elite.

The swimming takes place in open water along Södermalm and city of Stockholm. Nobels old dynamite factory, The city Hall, the Royal Castle and The old town are some of the sightseeing you will get during the race. The course furthermore provides participants the opportunity to feel what it's like to run up in one of Stockholms ski slopes which has held a World Cup Ski race back in the 80's.

The start and finish take place at the island Långholmen. The island for centuries served as a prison but now a days the old prison buildings serves as a hotel and museum. 

THE RULES IN SHORT

All of the equipment that the athletes uses has to be carried all the way from start to the finish line.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT THAT THE ORGANISATION WILL SUPPLY

- Course Map 

- Electronic control card 

- Swimming caps must be worn visible during all the swims

- Wetsuit tattoo must be worn visible all the time during the race

 

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

- 1 First aid pressure bandage, packed waterproof
- 1 Compass
- 2 Whistles

- 2 wetsuits (optional in the sprint race)

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

Floating subjects greater than 100 × 60 centimeters are not allowed. Paddles, fins, pullbuoys or similar objects are allowed as long as they are carried all the way from the start to the finish line.Swimming goggles and shoes with low wet weight is recommended.

Leaving objects and littering along the course will lead to disqualification.

 

The fastest route between the swimming distances and the other control points will be marked with tape. The organizer can not guarantee that the tape are not removed during the race day. Participants are therefore equipped with a map where this road is plotted. 

The timing system we use are the same that are used for Orienteering. At the beginning and end of each swim section, and at some other spots along the course there are control points. At the control points there is readers located that reads the electronic control card. The reader gives off a sound when finished reading. It is the participant's responsibility to make sure that all of these checkpoints are scanned along the course. If not all control points are properly scanned and in the correct sequence this may lead to disqualification. All the control points will be clearly marked, by red dots on the map. This may sound complicated but it really is is not. The organizer will carefully explain all about the control system on the race meeting.

Saturday, JUNE 17, 2017

 

09.00 – 10.30 REGISTRAITION
Registraion, late registration (cash and Swish only). Display of mandatory equipment at Start area Långholmsmuren 2D (see the map). Pickup of; number tags, timing chips, swim caps, map, goodie bag, food tickets and plastic bag for your change. Changing clothes may be left here later.

 

10.30 Race meeting

Is held at the start area

11.15 Hand in to the clothes storage
in the tent at Start area. Change of clothes should be placed in plastic bags provided by the organizer. Staff will be in tent all day, and only athletes are allowed to enter the tent. However the organizers do not take the responsibility for valuables left in the tent.

12.00 Start SPRINT and FULL DISTANCE

12.25 First teams are expected to finish the sprint (4,5K+0,5K)

13.00 Prize Giving SPRINT distance

15:00 First teams are expected to finish the full distance (30K+3K)

16:00 Cutoff for the participants that have not yet started swimming in Sjön Trekanten (swimming 11).

17.00 Prize Giving (FULL distance)

 

Mandatory equipment to be displayed on registration:

Whistle (only for full distance) - one per person

Wetsuits (only for full distance)- one per person

First aid kit (tourniquet) - at least one per team

 

Energy:
There will be 3 aid stations along the course. These will be market on the map (see below). At the finish we serve all participants, water, drinks, coffee, fruit etc. Participants who do the full distance will have pizza in exchange for there food ticket.

Parking 
Parking the car is most easily done at Hornstullstrand or at the campsite on Långholmen. Note that you must use Pålsundsbron to reach the campsite.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTS
The closest underground station is called Hornstull, about a 10 mins walk. Buses no 4, no 40 and no 54 stop close by.

SHOWERS AND CHANGING ROOMS
After the race you have the possibility that for a small fee (20 kr) use the showers and changing rooms at Långholmen Camping. 2-minute walk from the finish area. There are also free toilettes and outdoor showers at the beach (see map). Before the race we recomend you to change outside at some of the big fields near the start.

 

 

Rules in short:

  • Race bibs must be worn visible all the time during the race
    Swimcaps must be worn visible during all the swims
  • The members of the team must under no circumstances be more than 20 meters apart, either on land or in the water.
  • All teams need to bring all their equipment from start to finish, if a team fail to bring all their equipment to the finish line they will be disqualified.
  • Floatation help that is bigger than 100 cm x 60 cm IS NOT ALLOWED
  • The participants must follow the marked course
  • By entering the race each team member accepts the rules in full

The participants that do not follow the rules will be disqualified
